A southern Appalachian stream by Todd Amacker ©
Hey, y’all. I’m Bryan.
I’m a Ph.D. student at the University of Georgia where I study fish, streams, and communications efficacy in Southern Appalachia. I was born and raised in East Tennessee, and I’ve been fascinated by rivers and streams for as long as I can remember. I spent my childhood years splashing, swimming, fishing, snorkeling, and rafting in the many mountain streams near my home, and spent my college years studying these natural resources and ecosystems at the University of Tennessee. After completing my undergraduate education and interning for Trout Unlimited, I decided to continue studying streams and fish in graduate school. I’ve been at UGA for the last 6 years; I earned my MS in 2017 and will complete my Ph.D. in Spring 2022.
Being a scientist is my day job. When I’m not reading, writing, or arithmetic-ing, you can find me trail running, listening to records, fly fishing (poorly), playing a musical instrument (less poorly), or perfecting my whiskey sour recipe (nearly there).
Into: cooking, music, good beverages, being outside.
